Green Time features 14 stories written during an independent fiction-writing workshop in 2002 held at the Good Shepherd Center in Seattle, Washington- a grey, haunted landmark that formerly served as a wayward girls4 home. The moody setting somehow proved to be the ideal site for new writers with fresh stories-which is why we4ve interspersed Tim Rounds4 recent photographs of the building4s gloomy brickwork and grounds with these new works of fiction. For whatever reason, there is a welcome absence of gimmickry and stylistic bravado in this collection. There is a fragility that is beautifully green. All proceeds will go to PEN International4s Readers and Writers Program.
