Description

After the huge success of Growing Great Boys, comes this companion title focusing on girls. Despite girls mostly getting great media these days many issues still remain to challenge them and their parents. This book will give support and advice to parents in the same way that Growing Great Boys has done. It'll follow the structure of the Boys' book quite closely but with different information and chapters, as required. It'll include some general chapters on the nature of girls; Girls and mothers; Girls and fathers; Solo parenting; Preschool girls; Middle years; and Teen girls.Ian and Mary would like to address these topics: Understanding girls - the uniqueness of girls; the delightful side of girl-culture; the negative side of girl-culture; the special challenges of current culture - the rise of the brainless bimbo, pornography and the ridicule of girls; girls and success - those things which impact a girls likelihood of success (Supportive parents, the way they view themselves, peers, travel, birth-order, attitude to obstacles, passion for something); girls and friendships; girls and self-esteem - character is more important than curves; developmental stages and specific issues; fun and communication - girl-style; preparing for puberty; building blocks for a meaningful life; mentoring a girl; and lots more.
