Hairy Maclary and Friends Little Library Boxed Set (4 Board Books) reviews

I grabbed this product as a sale item assuming, being of the Hairy Maclary line, that it would be of the quality and nature of Lynley Dodd's well known books. However it is nothing of the sort. The package is nice enough in it's presentation. You get 4 small books based around some of the more well known characters of Hairy Maclary but none of the charm found in the writing. Each page has a picture and small, simple sentence relevant to what's seen. Unfortunately it's not even in rhyme.

The product is little more than merchandising at it's worst. At best though, these books may serve as a chew toy for an infant if you are so inclined to allow it. I for one find myself a few dollars out with a product I have no use, need, or desire for. A horrible disappointment.

I was a little disappointed that this wasn't the actual stories in miniature.....but they are good none-the-less. It gives us a brief introduction to the world of Lynley Dodd's lovable characters.

Good one for the kids. Good old Hairy Macleary does it again. The kids love it. Exciting books before they go to bed its amazing. I recommend it!

Books are only 10cm square, so don't expect a full sixed item.

Children love the stories and the pictures

Purchased as xmas present for grandkids,and am sure kids will love being introduced to lynley dodd stories, swell presented.

Yes as one or two others expressed I expected stories rather than what is there but they will be great little starter for nieces and nephews, also a little light reading for us old people Tony Green

Great little books for introducing children to the Lynley Dodd characters that are in the full story books

Great introduction for the littlest people of Lynley Dodds's vibrant language and engaging characters. Great to be safely explored alone or read one-to-one. Perfect size to take out and about too. A must have for all toddlers. And they're well priced.

I am in love with this mini library, hairy maclary books was a childhood favourite and I am sooo happy I can introduce these books into his bedtime story.

I was expecting longer stories- closer to the originals. Good, but will be kept as a christmas present for a very young child rather than the reading tool I was hoping to use it for a new entrant to school. A favourite ‘Hairy Maclary’ was to my little girl as a toddler, the one I used to read to her ruined- thinking this would replace that.

My little boy just loves these books and they are a great size so we can take them wherever we go.

I purchased these books for my young nieces and they love them! I even had a peak at the stories myself before handing over to them. Definitely great for the younger kids :)

Lovely little set about our favourite friends, however, I was under the wrong impression that they were miniatures of the actual stories. They aren't, and I was a bit disappointed about that. My 15 month however, hasn't noticed!!

I have read 7 books of Hairy Maclary when I was little I all ways like my nan and my family to read to me and I say that this Hairy Maclary and Friends book would be good for everyboody.

It is a great introduction to the Hairy MacLary books and is perfect for little hands. Every child loves Hairy MacLary. There are no rhymes, just statements about each character.

These books are about what each of the characters from the Hairy Maclary family can do. They are not the full stories in a miniature version. Great size for little hands to hold.

The wee ones will love this easy to read book. Lovely books that wear well with busy hands…worth the buy..

These board books are fantastic for kids. My little ones enjoy looking at the pictures and they're easy to read. The books are nearly indestructible as I've learned from my toddler. No matter how he treats them, they still look brand new. That's what I call quality! An awesome buy and fantastic first books for babies/toddlers.

These are great little books that can be easily managed by very small hands and have the anticipated visual images of Hairy and co. They are not miniature versions of the renowned Dodd stories but wonderful as an introduction to the characters that will be met later in those stories.

Perfect little books for little hands, bright colours, great short sentence on each page – not entire story as per books for older children.
