"It not as fast paced at the other books"
4 stars"

This is an ok Halo book. It seems to be more like the Flood than any other book in the series. It gives some good information about Keyes and his back ground. It also explains the conflict between the Elites and the Prophets at last. I have been wondering about that since Halo 2. However I felt that the story needed more action and be a slightly faster pace like Fall of Reach or First Strike. When there is action it is a great and draws you in to the story. When there are not you seem to not be drawn in as much and not really get to care about the characters. As well the new Spartan that they introduce does not have their back stories explained like they do for John and Red team. However it does cover some information that was given in the previous books. However it was a great read and makes me water for the next book.

Fantastic book for any Halo or Sci-Fi enthusiast. Compelling, fast paced and action packed with enough kill-tastic SPARTAN action to please anyone.

Description

Halo: The Cole Protocol is the sixth in the New York Times bestselling literary series based on the blockbuster Microsoft and Bungie Studios' Halo® video games.

Written by Nebula nominee and Prometheus Award finalist, Tobias Buckell, Halo: The Cole Protocol unveils the location of the Spartan Gray Team and takes readers into an unexplored conflict of the Human-Covenant War, where unlikely alliances are formed and shattered, altering the course of the humanity's epic struggle for survival.

In the first, desperate days of the Human-Covenant War, the UNSC has enacted the Cole Protocol to safeguard Earth and its Inner Colonies from discovery by a merciless alien foe. Many are called upon to rid the universe of lingering navigation data that would reveal the location of Earth. Among them is Navy Lieutenant Jacob Keyes. Thrust back into action after being sidelined, Keyes is saddled with a top secret mission by ONI. One that will take him deep behind enemy lines, to a corner of the universe where nothing is as it seems. Out beyond the Outer Colonies lies the planet Hesiod, a gas giant surrounded by a vast asteroid belt. As the Covenant continues to glass the human occupied planets near Hesiod, many of the survivors, helped by a stronghold of human Insurrectionists, are fleeing to the asteroid belt for refuge. They have transformed the tumbling satellites into a tenuous, yet ingenious, settlement known as the Rubble--and have come face-to-face with a Covenant settlement of Kig-Yar . . . yet somehow survived. News of this unlikely treaty has spread to the warring sides. Luckily for the UNSC, this uneasy alliance is in the path of the Spartan Gray Team, a three-man renegade squad whose simple task is to wreak havoc from behind enemy lines in any way they see fit. But the Prophets have also sent their best---an ambitious and ruthless Elite, whose quest for nobility and rank is matched only by his brutality . . . and who will do anything to secure his Ascendancy and walk the Path.
