Got this for my boy’s 3rd birthday and it’s a huge hit. He’s mad about dragons so this was perfect for him. Assembly was relatively straight forward and it’s a good quality build although the transfer images on the gate are on the wrong sides on the castle we received; box pic show flames on the inside but my gate has them on the outside, if I flip the gate around the cord goes across the gateway and isn’t long enough to fit up the left channel (if I can’t get a replacement gate from Hape i’ll Probably just drill a small hole on the other side of the gate and re-thread the cord through the new hole so the gate can go the right way round). Was confusing for a while til I realised the images were wrong but I assembled with the flame image out in the end as it doesn’t affect how it works just doesn’t look how it should which is a shame. Other than that it’s a good solid build and the ability to fold it away after playtime is great. The figures and accessories that come with the castle are great quality, the bendy limbs on the figures allow for no end of imaginative poses and the various trapdoors and secret hatches keep playtime new and interesting for my son. Some of the tiny accessories I left in the box til he is older as I think they may be too small for him right now. Overall I feel this is great value for money and will last for some time, only let down by the image issue on the gate but that’s an aesthetic and doesn’t detract from the huge amount of fun!
