Starring Martin Freeman (The Office) and written by Simon Nye, the creator of Men Behaving Badly, Hardware was nominated for the 2004 Situation Comedy BAFTA. Set in a local hardware shop, best friends, Mike (Martin Freeman) and Kenny (Peter Serafinowicz) keep their spirits high by playing wicked practical jokes on their customers and devising wildly ambitious plans to pursue their dreams outside the store. The other nuts and bolts that make up Hamways Hardware Store are student-come-dogsbody Steve (Ryan Cartwright) and their beady-eyed jobsworth manager, Rex (Ken Morley). Over the road, Mike's long-suffering girlfriend Anne (Susan Earl) and her best friend, the man-hungry Julie (Ella Kenion), run the local cosy, Nice Day Café, serving hearty meals to the passing trade with a small slice of sarcasm and good-natured ridicule thrown in for good measure.
