"ok, not for people new to Hawkeye"

I enjoyed the parts that I understood, the art was great, the story-telling was great, but being new to the Marvel universe and not knowing much about Hawkeye left me a bit confused. This is not a linear story, but a collection of previous stories that jumps around in time. It does however give you a good insight into who Hawkeye is outside of a Marvel Hero.

This is Clint Barton, just a normal guy, doing normal things(I can relate to his caffeine intake). He's a massive trouble magnet but he's really just a nice guy deep down inside(maybe nicer than Captain America!) and steps in to fight the battle for those who can't do it themselves and doing the right thing… He also happens to be a superhero part-time, but hey, nobody is keeping count.

The story and dialogue is witty and clever with great supporting characters -Kate Bishop, his protege and Arrow/PizzaDog who he adopts. The artwork isn't in a style that I was use to so it took awhile to get into it but you soon realise that it all fits together with the story telling. I wanted more as soon as I finished reading the comic.

I love the movie Hawkeye but this comic pretty much made him my favorite Avenger!

Matt Fraction is an unparalleled graphic novel writer, and he breathes new life into Hawkeye, making him a relatable and likeable character. Although “My Life as a Weapon” does have a few cringey comic book tropes within, it remains one of the most compelling graphic novels I have read in recent memory. This introductory volume is not to be missed, and will hopefully be considered a classic in the future.

Description

With ex-Young Avenger Kate Bishop by his side, he's out to prove himself as one of Earth's Mightiest Heroes.
