This volume looks at Hollywood studio cartoons in their "golden age", following cartoons, most of them only seven or eight minutes long, that were commonly part of movie theatre programmes in the 1930s, 1940s, and 1950s. This account looks principally at the Walt Disney studio - including is full-length cartoons, beginning with "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" - but also focuses strongly on Warner Brothers and MGM cartoons in this period.

Author Biography:

Michael Barrier is a recognized authority on film cartoons. For many years he was the publisher and editor of Funnyworld, the most widely respected magazine devoted to the animated film. He lives in Alexandria, Virginia.
