Description

Despite the abundance of writing how-to books, unpublished writers seem to repeat the same mistakes again and again, from making their protagonists into cooler versions of themselves to describing a character preparing and eating breakfast for fifteen pages. Unlike most writing books, this is not a point-by-point plot formula for success. Instead, by using humor combined with straightforward advice, this guide provides expert trouble-shooting that can be immediately put into practice to get any manuscript out of the slush pile and into the book stores.

Howard Mittelmark worked as an agent at the Scott Meredith Literary Agency, bought and edited fiction for Penthouse, and is the co-author of two New York Times bestsellers and the upcoming Age of Consent (Penguin).
