Description

Essentially a reprint of the long out-of-print "Selected Poems of Takagi Kyozo" (Carcanet Press, 1973), this re-edition is a welcome if belated tribute to a great contemporary Japanese poet. In addition to the reprinted poetry, this expanded edition contains five poems, two longer prose poems and two short stories by Kyozo that originally appeared in other collections of his work. In addition, How to Cook Women contains a complete bibliography of Kyozo's work in English translation, a select bibliography of his works in Japanese, and an essay by James Kirkup entitled "Local and Universal Poet."
