Description

Landscapes featuring water and sky scenes are amomg the most popular subjects for artists, and a constant source of inspiration ? the sky supplies the light, while water provides the movement. This practical guide to drawing and painting water and skyscapes gives budding artists the chance to take step-by-step lessons and learn new skills from professional artists. Divided into three easy-to-use sections, the first, Materials, provides advice on the media and equipment available, from pencils, pastels and inks to paintbrushes and paint applicators. This is followed by Tutorials, which explains the technicalities of drawing water and skies. It begins with a simple introduction to perspective and composition, then highlights specific subjects, such as clouds, sunset, still water and moving water. If you are a complete beginner, work through this section page by page, as it will help you build up confidence to tackle water and skyscapes of your own. Finally, Projects offers a gallery of inspiring works by working artists before featuring 15 step-by-step practice exercises to follow, each designed to demonstrate a different technique and medium, from a rocky foreshore in pencil and a cloudscape in charcoal to a rainbow in acrylics and crashing waves in watercolour. You can copy the projects exactly if you wish, or simply use them as a starting point for your own explorations. Beautifully illustrated throughout with over 480 colour photographs, this accessible book will show you how to draw and paint water and skies, and produce your own wonderful works of art to be proud of.
