Description

David Lewis and his 32 foot yacht, "Ice Bird" set sail from Sydney, Australia in 1972 on a search for high adventure to Antartica. The voyage full of drama, emotion and pain took place in the least hospitable part of the globe, through some of the most treacherous waters in the world. Along the way he did not touch land for 14 weeks, faced mountainous seas, constant gales, snowstorms and freezing temperatures where he fought for his life. Twice his small yacht capsized, and once it was dismantled 3,500 miles from help. His survival was a miracle of fortitude, skill and some luck.
