In the present series have been introduced a few plates intended to convey some idea of the armour, furniture, and embellishments of the olden time -and the attempt has been received with favour; indeed, such a result might have been fairly anticipated, now that so much attention is deservedly bestowed on the manners, customs, and edifices of our forefathers; and it would be doing injustice to a rising and meritorious artist, Mr. Nixon, not to acknowledge that he has displayed great taste and judgment in the execution of this portion of the Work.
