To the Third and Last Brief of the Respondent The foregoing is undoubtedly impertinent, as re; spects the question before the Court, and would be impertinent, as respects myself. Were I not fully advised that the author has pondered with jaundiced eyes so long upon the several topics referred to, that he has become a monomaniac in reference to all of them. While he labors under his present delusion, I should not be justified in resenting his acts or sayings. Such people must be humored, not crossed. Guided by this con sideration, I will proceed to inform him how my. 'lexicon defines civil liberty in the respects men tioned by him, and What my political dictionary teaches in respect to the relations which exist be-f tween the people and the Government ordained by them, -and some things which it does not teach' me.
