Author Biography

Jason Smathers is the Editor in Chief of the "Badger Herald, "the premier student newspaper of the University of Wisconsin-Madison. During his time at UW-Madison, he has served as a member of the Wisconsin Union Directorate, worked as a DJ for the student radio station WSUM 91.7 FM, and served a tour of duty as a residential assistant in the UW Housing dormitories. He also has written for Madison-based newspaper "The Capital Times" as well as blogging for Youth Vote 08'--a joint venture between UWire.com, CBSNews.com and Washingtonpost.com covering the 2008 presidential election from a youth perspective. He graduated in 2009 with a double major in journalism and history and is currently a graduate student in the School of Journalism and Mass Communication. Jeff Schorfheide is the Photo Editor at the "Badger Herald," the premier student newspaper of the University of Wisconsin-Madison. While attending UW-Madison he has covered many high-profile events including two NCAA men's basketball tournaments, three holiday football bowl games, the Republican National Convention (and the protests outside), and has had his work appear in a variety of publications including the Wisconsin State Journal, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, and the Associated Press' news wire. He will graduate in the Spring of 2010 and plans to pursue a career in photojournalism.
