We must, therefore, first of all get a clear idea of what is involved in a 'psychological account.' That we shall make our aim in the present chapter, and we shall also endeavour to arrive at what might be called a working notion of Instinct from the psychological point of View, as a preliminary to the more detailed study of Instinct with the object of attaining a scientific view of it within the universe of discourse of psychology.
