Description

The field of nanocomposites involving organic or inorganic materials is a rapidly rising area of research and application development. In general nano-composites can be broadly defined as a mix of dissimilar components that can be zero-dimensional, one dimensional, two dimensional or three dimensional that are mixed at the nanoscale. The promise driving nano-composites over more traditional composites lies in taking advantage of the new and often exciting properties afforded by nano-structures. Moreover, these properties are often tunable and so significant effort is being focused on our ability to control the properties of the nanostructures and their merging into composites. Thus a significant amount of research is being targeted to understanding the properties both for the individual nano-materials as well as the composite itself, e.g. interfacial interactions. This is an ideal book for new entrants in the field whether they are master's students, post graduate students or postdoctoral fellows entering the field for the first time.
