Sporting a 37 mm main gun turret, the M8 Greyhound was introduced to the Allies' arsenal in 1943. A year later, the M20 variant replaced the 37 mm gun turret with an open, armored superstructure and a mount for a .50-in M2 heavy machine gun. M8s and M20s were commonly used by the US Army. Free France, the UK and Brazil also used the Greyhound, courtesy of the Lend-Lease Act.
