Description

Jackie is one of eight sisters, octuplets, who will all turn eight years old on August 8, 2008. Each sister has a special power and a special gift, and each month one sister discovers her power and gift. So far, only three sisters have learned of their powers and this month it is Jackie's turn. Jackie cuts her hair and, along with her new hairstyle, she has a newfound confidence. Jackie's personality change helps her and her sisters keep the disappearance of their parents a secret while they look for clues and attempt to solve the mystery themselves. Eventually, Jackie learns that her power is speed. She can practically outrun a train-but how will her new abilities help the eight sisters maintain their futuristic home, pay their parent's taxes, and keep up with all of their schoolwork? To make matters worse, everyone seems to be a suspect in their parents' disappearance, including their school principal and maybe even their pet cats! There are a few black-and-white illustrations that show the girls as stylish but with big heads, big eyes, and skinny bodies. This book is full of fast action and creative plot twists but the conclusion will leave readers hanging. After all, this is only book four of "The Sisters 8" series. AUTHOR Lauren Baratz-Logsted began writing for adults, but has also written for teens and for tweens. Greg Logsted, husband of Lauren, has written one novel. Jackie Logsted, daughter of Lauren and Greg, is making her literary debut. She is eight years old. AGES 6-9 GRADES 1-4 Hardback 9780547226682
