Description

Jan van Goyen, (1596-1656) Holland's most important landscape painter of the Golden Age, had a special liking for the cityview. His most favourite subject in the genre was The Hague, the city where he lived from 1634. He was an extremely prolific artist - approximately 1,200 paintings and more than 1,000 drawings by him are known. All of Van Goyen's The Hague-cityscapes are described in detail in this accessible and richly illustrated publication.
