Jordan Leser is an indie pianist/singer from Sydney, Australia, whose songs are arrows aimed straight from the heart. Her sense of place is evocative, her gift for melody arresting, and her compositions reminiscent of her heroines – Kate Bush, Sinead O’Conner and Loreena McKennitt.
Jordan grew up in Byron Bay, and has been writing songs since the age of 13. After finishing school, she moved to Sydney, where she began working with Midnight Oil’s drummer, Rob Hurst, and guitarist, Jim Moginie on her first album.
‘As producers, our job was to shine the best light on Jordan’s darkly melodic, beautiful musical stories’, Rob Hurst says. ‘It helped that Jordan is such a thoughtful, patient and exacting songwriter’. ‘Berlin’ is a fine example of her work. A rhythmic piano melody accompanies a haunting vocal. Huge dynamic shifts occur with hard industrial drums giving way to gently, airy grooves.
