Is this Justin's best post-relapse album- It's certainly a return to form after the lackluster Single Mothers and Absent Fathers albums, which could have been condensed to a single album, and even that would have been a relative throwaway. And while Kids is a lot less substantial than the revelatory regret-harvest of Nothing's Going to Change, it's a lot more fun. One you can enjoy on a car ride, or among friends. Not just brooding alone over your whiskey, or your sobriety tokens. What we have here is not a magnum opus, but a solid disc that shows us Justin's getting his act together, without taking himself too seriously. And on a Saturday, that'll do.

Description

The album will be released on New West Records, marking the first time Earle has partnered with the venerable roots and country label.

“When I first met a young Justin Townes Earle, it was evident then he was intent on following his own artistic path,” said label president John Allen. “As his publisher, I saw his songwriting evolve to a literary depth and swagger that maintained that unique vision. New West is very proud to release Justin’s next album of his best work yet.”

Kids In The Street was produced by Mike Mogis, who is perhaps best known for his work with Bright Eyes on the Saddle Creek label.

“It’s the first time that I’ve worked outside of my usual umbrella of people to make a record,” Earle said of the decision to work with Mogis in Omaha. “In Nashville, if you have the right connections, it’ll spoil the shit out of you, because you’ve got access to the best musicians in the world and the best studios in the world. If you had told me when I started making records, that I wasn’t gonna make every record in Nashville, I would have told you you were crazy. And if you’d told me that I’d end up making a record in Omaha, I’d tell you you were out of your freaking mind.
