This is the second Kobo that I have purchased and can only highly recommend these units. To me the advantage over Kindle is that with Kindle one is restricted to a proprietary format whereas with Kobo one can use ePub and other formats enabling one to obtain reading matter from numerous sources even to being able to download and read books from the public library.
I brought this unit as an upgrade from my old Kobo Touch.
I had heard that they were a big step up from the older devices but I was unprepared for how much they had improved them while still working with such a low powered processor.
The setup was quick & easy, with the device ready to go in less than 15 min, and using the device is quick and easy (my old device averaged about 5 to 10 seconds to process things).
The screen is nice and crisp with quick page transitions & the back light making it easier to read (although it comes set at 30% which is a bit blinding but looks very nice at about 5%).
The only snag I found was that my purchased books showed up as placeholders and that I had to go into my library and tell it to download them all so they were stored on the device, I had no issues connecting the unit to my computer and transferring my own e-books onto it.
All in all I am very happy with my purchase.
The kobo aura edition 2 has pretty much everything I need – very easy on the eyes, and simple to adjust font size etc when necessary. Everything is at my fingertips. I chose kobo so I could borrow books using epub from my local library. The only minus thus far is finding that sometimes I am unable to open a downloaded library book in my kobo – but have been sent a fix which will hopefully resolve the issue. Definitely a better buy than the Amazon kindle, for my needs.
