Rockstar are undoubtebly the kings of sandbox and they dont dissapoint with LA Noire. The game is set in 1950's Los Angeles and like Grand Theft Auto 4 and the excellent Red Dead Redemption the game is a sandbox city with the level of detail quite stunning. Where LA Noire differs from previous games is there is a structured story which you work through. This means you are always on a mission (or in this game a case). You can roam the streets during the cases and take on some side call outs but solving the case is always your primary focus. Working on the cases is very satisfying whether you are searching for evidence, interviewing a suspect or in true rockstar style chasing a suspect on foot or in a car. Interrigation is perhaps the highlight of the game. The level of detail in the face model is sensational. You have to read suspect reactions before believing their answer or accusing them of lying. This is quite a challenge and makes the game replayable as you will want to pick up everything you missed first time aroud. Apart from one audio drop out ive encountered no bugs wheras with RDR id found a host by this stage. A clear contender for game of the year.
