Leap Of Faith
Miracles happen every day especially with swindler Jonas Nightengale (Steve Martin) in town. When he and his touring ministry set up their tent in impoverished Rustwater, Kansas, he preaches the almighty word – but lives for the mighty dollar. Though most in this tight-knit town are ready for the revival, there are a few who think this preacher is faking the faith. Jonas manager (Debra Winger) cozies up to the suspicious local sheriff (Liam Neeson), while Jonas practices his healing powers on Marva, a cynical, beautiful waitress (Lolita Davidovich). With an all-star cast and a powerful soundtrack, a leap of faith is good for the soul.
Critic Reviews:
- " Lolita Davidovich leads a wonderful supporting cast that includes Liam Neeson, Lukas Haas, Meatloaf, and Phillip Seymour Hoffman. " – Richard Propes
- " Martin gives a multi-layered performance " – Caffeinated Clint
- " The movie itself has considerable qualities, among them Martin's performance as Nightengale. This isn't the sleek, groomed, prosperous Steve Martin we've seen in movies like L.A. Story. It's Martin as a seedy, desperate, bright, greedy man without hope. " – Roger Ebert
