Description

The role of grammar is perhaps one of the most controversial issues in language teaching. It is believed that a focus on grammar is a desirable part of language teaching. What is important is how to integrate grammar teaching into a communicative methodology. Nowadays, emphasis is placed on enhancing the foreign language learners' competence, especially their communicative grammatical competence and motivations toward their performance. Therefore, the purpose of learning grammar is to understand grammatical forms and to be able to use them in the real world: people use language primarily to talk to each other. The present study has confirmed that providing learners with semi-real life tasks such as interview has a beneficial effect on the course of language development. The findings of this study are aimed at teachers and course designers who advocate task as a central element in language teaching.
