Parterre gardens are highly formal in design, usually symmetrical and typically found in an English stately home. Knot gardens are horticultural representations of classic rope knots. The author has selected the French knot to work her designs for the ten projects in this volume and considers it the perfect stitch to depict the formality of both garden styles.
