Author Biography:

Ann-Elizabeth "A-E" Shapera is an interactive player, singer, musician, humorist, storyteller, comedian, teacher and professional court fool, and she's also the Official Municipal Jester of the City of Milwaukee. A 26-year veteran of Renaissance festival street performance around the world, she was Director of Street Theatre for the Bristol Renaissance Faire in Wisconsin for ten years. She trained ten graduating classes of the Bristol Academy of Performing Arts in street theatre, improvisation, and Elizabethan living. Since 1993, she has played Jane the Phoole, Queen of Jesters and Jester to the Queen, based on a real-life jester to Queen Elizabeth I. Her performance career spans thirty years. She has taken part in many fringe-stage and environmental/street theatre events around the world, including competing in the 2007 International Jester Tournament as the first female entrant and one of the first US competitors and performing at the 2010 Festival of Fools at Muncaster Castle in Cumbria, U.K. A-E Shapera is also the author of Easy Street: A Guide for Players in Improvised Interactive Environmental Performance, Walkaround Entertainment, and First-Person Historical Interpretation.
