Description

Excerpt from Malden, Maplewood, Wakefield, Reading, Stoneham, Medford and West Medford: Their Representative Business Men and Points of Interest By far the handsomest church building in Malden is the First Baptist. Church, 'a very large stone edifice, beautifully proportioned, and so situated as to enable its attractions to be duly appreciated. This is one of the most beautiful churches in New England, and-both its site and its surroundings are such as to add to the attractiveness of its architecture, close by is the handsome Converse Memorial Building, occupied by the public library, and the comparison Of the rough brown stone of which this building is made, with the rough granite of which the church is built, serves to increase the beauty-of both buildings, and thus shows that there are exceptions to that much quoted rule, comparisons are odious. Descriptions of each of the many churches in this city would occupy all our available space many times over, so we will simply present a list of the many church organizations.
