"candid and funny"
5 stars"

First, I need to make a correction. This sentence is wrong as it does not apply to the book: “This is a groundbreaking collection of works about leading writers from the social political and artistic worlds”. This book has nothing to do with it. It is about the opera world. Who would have thought that opera is fun? I received this book as a present and what a nice present it was. I listen occasionally to classical music, opera “y compris”, but I am not someone you may call an opera fanatic. When I started to read the interviews, I could not believe of such spontaneity and candor. It was like being in the room where the interviews took place and listening to all those people ( stars, managers, conductors, well, all of them). They were funny, sad, courageous, heartening and mostly, genuine. But the surprise came in the second part of the book: hilarious and endearing, the author's stories leave you wanting more. No wonder that prominent people like Domingo gave a warm recommendation of the book. I look up for the author's other works. I regret that other interviews published by the author were not included in the book ( they can be seen in “Classical Singer” , but you really have to dig). I am looking forward to a volume 2 with opera stories. It may happen. One never knows.
