"The best rpg in long time!"
5 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

Mass Effect 2 does an absolutely amazing job of mixing great gameplay with an epic story. The story is strong and extremely well linked to the events that occured in Mass Effect.

The gameplay has been changed quite a bit but its for the better. The combat is intense (the introduction of hot keys means you don't have to pause the combat to use powers), well-paced and there is a good amount of it. Overall I think this game is a must have for anyone who has played and enjoyed Mass Effect or likes Biowares other Rpgs.

A 96/100 Metascore says that the Mass Effect trilogy is going up and out of the roof. Mass Effect 2 combines an excellent storyline, fast paced Gears of War style combat and an amazing soundtrack to boot. Its going to be interesting to see how the third game meets up with this one.

"GOTY 4 SURE!!"

All I have to say is OMG if you loved the first one or are just a fan of RPG's in general then this is a must have. The presentation is fantastic 10/10. Game play is much smoother(less technical issues) and you get into the action a lot quicker. The best part is you can import your character from the first Mass Effect and you get bonuses + the decisions you made reflect on the story. The game is never the same each time you play.

Can not wait for the third game!!

"Battlestar Glacatica meets Star Wars meets Mass Effect 1"

Mass Effect was a revolutionary game in the field of epic sci-fi story telling. Unlike most sci-fi games which put you in the role of some superhuman in a suit of armour, or a crazed scientist with a crowbar and simply send you out to kill everything with a weak plot, simple story/story telling and which the main character is the camera holding a gun/blunt object (These generalisations usually occur in FPS's though), Mass Effect brought in a number of characters and gave them all back stories, their own personalities and even their own unique fighting styles.

The voice acting was solid, and the plot was relativity interesting if a little cliche, the game was brought down for its genericness (For lack of a better word). Every explorable planet had a base to invade with some guys to kill, something to discover and rare items littered around the area. All the buildings looked the same, the missions always ended up making you Mother Teresa or a baby eating Satan. Not to mention that while characterisation is nice, asking a character to talk about themselves and then listen through fifteen minutes of drivel like you've got a documentory crew behind you gets tiring after the first two times.

ME2 removes all that completely. The long, drawn out conversations are still there, but with added scenes, some shooting and even people walking about instead of staring at each other (Similar to that of Elder Scroll series, or Fallout 3). The voice acting is still fantastic, as is the soundtrack which made the game so atmospheric. The fire fighting has been upgraded from simpe shooting to tactical shoot outs involving destructible cover, and a much easier useage of the biotic/tech powers that made the game stand out from normal supernatural powers sci-fi games like to bring out.

Overall, ME2 was a fantastic game, and the collectors addition was even better. Not only did it give you an extra three side missions (one long one too), it also gave you a new character that sounds like Jason Statham in thirty years time after loads of cigarettes. The Edition also comes with a pre-release of the first volume of the comics, a book filled with beautiful concept art and even a funky Cerberus access card, which looks disturbingly cool in a waller next to a drivers licence.

"I was disappointed"
3 stars"

This game wasn't as good as I thought it would be. You have to keep entering the menu to change weapons/powers and it gets a little boring and repetitive. I honestly don't know what all the hype is about, also I hate shooting in 3rd person.

"Awesome game!"

I loved the first edition of Mass Effect and couldn't wait for the second. I was not disapointed as the game was truly awesome. You can carry on from where you left off and import your created character from the first game save. They added more shooting into the game to make it like a shooter combined with role playing by taking out some of the role playing aspects which made it slightly different but just as enjoyable to play.

I searched vigorously for a great price on Mass Effect 2 Limited Edition and, as usual Mighty Ape provided me with the cheapest and most reasonable price I could find.

Thanks again Mighty Ape!

"Bring on Mass Effect 3"

A stunning sequel that draws from its original and expands to form a galactic adventure. The enemies are tougher, the allies stronger, and the action epic. Mixed reactions of the streamlining to a more action orientated game; Third person shooter fans will be glad to get into the action quicker and faster where some rpg fans may be disapointed by the reduced options at their disposal.

"Mass Effect is back and better than ever."

After the huge success of Mass Effect, the sequel had high expectations from fans and it delivered in spades. With excellent high quality graphics, compelling narrative and memorable characters, Mass Effect 2 is worth every second of development and every cent it cost.

"This game is so epic"

In the first game Mass Effect I created 2 characters, one female, one male and with my female character she was a vanguard renegade, with a history of her parents being killed in the first contact war and a survivor. She had good shotgun skills and I made her a real bad girl. My second character was a male infiltrator paragon, with a history of being a war hero and ophan from earth. He is a honest man and a hero and will save anyone's life that is in danger. So with these two characters I made sure that they would do things differently, like kill some person and save another or choose who lives or dies and what missions to take, that kind of thing. Now in Mass Effect 2 these two characters are like worlds apart in that they are so different from each other. The romance they had, their own personal background and everything they did in the first game really takes in effect. I guess that's why it's Mass Effect, it's a massive story which can change or alter in so many different ways possible and right now i'm enjoying it for what it's worth and it was definitly worth bying the collectors edition. First of all the collectors armour is neat and access to cerberus network too. Maybe some other day i'll create another character which is neutral (not paragon or renegade or inbetween) and is a soldier so I can use that collecotrs assualt rifle. Such great story, characters, universe, galaxies, side missions, customization and so epic too.

"Final Fight shorter than expected."

A lot of the game is spent building up your team and doing loyalty missions. The final battle was good, but it could have been longer.

"Best game ever"

I love this game to bits. I could play it a hundred times and not get bored. Great story, great characters, great gameplay. Also Bioware releases free dlc from time to time and there's some premium dlc which includes and extra character. The collectors edition is great, but don't be fooled the description, both the collectors and the standard edition contain the cerebus network cards (for dlc).
