Author Biography:

Throughout his life, Gary Popejoy has explored many points on the North American continent. He served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam. He was awarded war medals and received Buddha images of which he is most proud. While a manager at Air America, a former civilian airline operated by the CIA, he visited many Buddhist temples, photographing and interacting with monks. Gary then became production manager at Lockheed's famous Skunk Works, where the F-117 Nighthawk stealth attack aircraft SR-71 Blackbird strategic reconnaissance aircraft, and TR-1/U-2 programs were developed. A 36-year resident of Santa Clarita, California, he has been a business owner, community volunteer, president of Mad About Rising Crime (MARC), and an associate with the Anti-Gang Task Force. Currently, Gary is an author and member of the Golden Pen Writers Guild and has contributed to several of their published anthologies including Waiting at the Train Station: Crossroads, Turning Points and Defining Moments (2015), The Language of Love: A Collection of Poetry, Prose, and Stories from the Heart (2016), and Writing out Loud: Exploring Relationships in Prose and Poetry (2016). He is now writing two companion books tentatively entitled Buddha and His Temples, a Westerner's View, and Buddha, His Precepts and Temples with Meditation, a Westerner's View that will publish in 2017.
