"Play the demo before casting your foul judgement"
5 stars"

Downloaded the demo this morning and have just enjoyed it throughly! It's also quite challenging as well which i'm very much into.

No it's not a Metal Gear “Solid”, it's not supposed to be.

OTT boss battles, Blood, Slicing, destruction…

what else do you want!-

I sliced a guy into 187 piecies (it has a piece count), that is just awesome.

"To all the people saying "not metal gear""

It is infact a Metal Gear game, what it isn't would be metal gear _SOLID_. Kojima himself said this is not intended to be a Metal Gear Solid game.

“Metal Gear” nowadays simply refers to the universe, and Solid is kind of genre specific, therefore, if this were not a Metal Gear game, it would not feature Metal Gear characters or concepts.

Now stop fixating on this one insignificant point, and look forward to the game for what it is; taking the Metal Gear franchise into a new direction.

Also, before you complain about how it's unrealistic and over the top for the franchise for Raiden to be hurling RAY-like Metal Gears around, go play MGS4 again. Notive that Raiden hurls 3 Gekko around all at once, then, in act 4, holds back a certain sea-fortress that is around the size of 10 aircraft carriers, and probably has even more horsepower, while he has only 1 arm.

With that out of the way, this game looks amazing, the graphics are gorgeous, the cutting mechanics are jaw dropping. I just hope that the story and gameplay live up to the hype.

"Not a Metal Gear game..."
2 stars"

I too have mixed feelings about this game. As a huge Metal Gear Solid fan myself I know what makes a good Metal Gear game and I know what Hideo does in order to create that.

And that's just it…

Hideo Kojima is not working on this game, at the very least hes producing it. Mr. Kojima pulled out of this game because it was not being made the way he wanted. Instead he worked on Peace Walker and that turned out to be game of the year for PSP in 2010. This means Rising will not bear the title of being a “Hideo Kojima Game”.

A Metal Gear game is all about tactical espionage action, meaning heavy stealth elements in the game. However this is not the style of Rising. Its more of a head on hack and slash approach. Which in its own way is fine, but for me does not define it as a Metal Gear game.

Don't get me wrong though it still looks fantastic, the graphics and intense action do make it appealing. But as a die hard Metal Gear fan, knowing its not going to be made by Hideo Kojima and knowing its going to be completely different form the other Metal Gear games makes Rising a spin off at the very least.

"New Beginning"
4 stars"

Introducing Raiden…

MGS has a superb Legacy and i personally think is the Greatest Stealth game ever but Raiden has big shoes to replace. All i know is it will not be the same but it will be the new Generation of MGS.

what more to say.. all i'm expecting is..

  • stealth-like-gameplay
  • beautiful graphics
  • the trends of bosses
  • movie-like cutscenes

and of course LIGHTNING BOLT ACTION>

"21st February people, get psyched"
4 stars"

There is no doubt that this game is going to be a step in a new direction, but you could pack metal gear in 100 different ways and I would still be keen to carry on the story.

"Mixed Feelings"
2 stars"

You cannot replace Snake. MGS1 built him up to legendary status and left an unbeatable legacy, all the while MGS2 and 4 (More so the latter) tried to slowly kill off the hero we'd all grown to love, something I am terribly bitter about. Raiden was always a bitter subject to me, particularly in MGS2 where he more or less attempted to replace snake for 80% of the game, yet here he is again, this time with Snake gone for good. I probably won't be getting this day one, but I will be keeping an eye on things

"On the fence"
3 stars"

I think a lot of people are on the fence about this game. It arrived with an exciting premise and an exciting but small glimpse into its game-play only to vanish and reemerge later as a completely overhauled project. Now that it has left the hands of Konami I think many gamers will be doubtful if this game is hold a Metal Gear name. Only time will tell if Raiden will be able to hold his own in this over the top slice and dice action game.
