Description

The process of rural-urban migration in China is accelerating with increased modernization and industrialization. It is also attracting more and more attention because of its magnitude and potential economic and social impacts of migration on various aspects of health and well-being, especially on the psychological effects of the lives of rural migrant workers in urban China. Drawing on the concept of public health, this book explores whether rural-urban labour migrants are particularly vulnerable to health risks such as TB, STDS, RTI and occupational health. In addition, gender inequality and perceptions of health seeking behaviour among migrant workers will be portrayed and critically debated. The analysis should help shed light on those who would like to do systematic appraisal research on urbanization, migration and health. It is especially useful to those who manage projects focus on the health aspects of migrant population.
