What a fantastic movie. Shakespeare's comedy translates brilliantly to the big screen, with the two lead roles of Benedick and Beatrice taken by the legendary Kenneth Branagh and Emma Thompson – both asparkle with wit and talent, managing to cast life into the verbal sparring between their characters.
A splendid ensemble cast and beautiful scenery complete this picture – Keanu Reeves admittedly underwhelming in his villainous role, but (a lot younger!) Denzel Washington, Kate Beckinsale and Robert Sean Leonard providing the quality we've come to expect from such actors.
My favourite Shakespeare play – beautifully done and highly recommended.
