Fire shimmered off shattered glass, a thousand flecks of brimstone falling from the sky. The air was heavy with ignited petrol and the rage of hundreds of men moving, bending, reaching, running, all with a single purpose, joyous in their collective. Seen through a haze of cannabis and alcohol, there was a surreal quality to the scene, heightened and yet dulled, as if viewed through the lens of a camera. It was a new experience for Noel, to be up close like this. Kevin watched his excitement, feeling the urge in him to have a go, to experience the anarchy of lifting a stone and throwing it at authority. "It's like being in a film," said Noel. "All it needs is a really good soundtrack."

Author Biography

Geraldine Quigley was born 1964. She worked in retail for many years and gained a degree in Irish History and Politics at Magee College, University of Ulster, as a mature student. It was in her late forties that she began writing. She currently works and lives in Derry with her husband. Music Love Drugs War is her first novel.
