NFL Head Coach 09 reviews

The most surprising thing about Head Coach 09 is that it is from EA Sports which is about the most trusted name in sports sim gaming and this may be the weakest EA title I have played. I don't say this lightly and as someone who actually coaches American Football (surely the smallest niche market in NZ) you'd think this would be a dream game. However, it lets itself down on a few things that really affect playing satisfaction even for hardened football fanatics.

These are mostly to do with the actual in game play. The graphic quality, player A.I and coach response options are all disappointing. The game is also let down by it's Play Creator which is limited in it's route choices and more advanced linemen schemes such as zone blocking and D line stunts.

That said however, if you like sport management type games Head Coach ticks a lot of the right boxes. It's depth of off field work and decision making is at times intense, everything from scouting draft prospects, negotiating free agent contracts and keeping the fans happy is a lot to juggle through the off season and is really challenging. The only issue here is that the game doesn't allow for gut feeling or emotional decisions and dictates that you really only coach or GM by the numbers.

Although I have some disappointments I am still playing it because of the sheer challenge of building a championship team in one of the toughest leagues of any sport in the world. I bought it on one of MightyApes excellent sales and if you like this type of game give it a go but do buy it at the sale price.

This game is very in depth. You can take as little or as much responsibility as you want. If you want to take the whole thing it can take a long time, so if you enjoy being hands on & taking complete control this will suit you well. Not quite what I thought, but still a different take on your usual game. Control in-game plays, although there is no actual game play. For what it is designed to be, it is a great game

For those of you who have enjoyed LMA manager and other such sport manager games plus into NFL this is definitely the game for you.

The level of detail is quite amazing, with current and some old players from a range of great NFL teams to choose from. So if you have one personal favourite or many then you'll definitely enjoy the game.

It also tests you on your knowledge of the game, since you're the coach you make all the strategic gaming decisions!

Not many sport management games on a PS3 which is disappointing but that's where NFL Head Coach comes in. I bought this game from mighty ape at a great price so very happy with my purchase :)

As a huge fan of the Madden games franchise mode I started to want it to be more indepth. So I brought Head Coach 09 and am very pleased at the level of depth in the game. With all the day to day tasks you have to deal with, it gives you a real insite into what it take to be a head coach in the NFL

If you like madden franchise mode then you will love this game. Hire and control all coaching staff including your general manager, personal trainer and positional coaches. The nfl draft has just as much hype as real life and you get to scout the years draft talent throughout the regular and off season. This includes attending pro days, the scouting combine and holding individual workouts with potential draftees. The only major downer is the fact that the graphics are not as great as the madden series, but if you like controling all the coaching moves on and off the field then you will love this game.
