Description

This companion to Pearl's Now Read This covers approximately 500 titles from the past decade, organizing them according to four major appeal factors (setting, character, story, and language). These two books are designed to help RAs help mainstream readers find the books they want to read; these are the only real readers' advisory guides to mainstream fiction currently available. Each title is briefly described, then users are given links to read-alikes - "now try..." A list of subjects accompanies each annotation, and a notation if the book is appropriate for book clubs and YA readers. An appendix lists genre links.

Author Biography:

NANCY PEARL is Director of the Washington Center for the Book and Collection Development Specialist at Seattle Public Library, Washington. She was also named winner of the 2003 Washington Humanities Award.
