This high energy, rave rap outfit from South Africa Die Antwoord was created as a group in 2009, consisting of performers Ninja, Yo-Landi Vi$$er, and DJ Hi-Tek.

Die Antwoord zef-rapper Ninja was a part of South African hip-hop scene for many years, fronting such acts as The Original Evergreens, The constructus corporation and max normal.tv. Since Die Antwoord his inner zef (i.e., white trash) persona turned out to be Ninja: a fast rapping futuristic and rough zef godfather who is very different from any other rapper you have ever seen before. Period.

Ninja raps in English and Afrikaans over rave-style beats and it turns out, that's just what hip-hop needed. Die Antwoord's "Enter the Ninja" video went viral in February, introducing the world to Ninja, the group's glowering lead MC, and Yo-Landi Vi$$er, a pixieish sidekick with the world's weirdest mullet. Ninja's staccato flow kills even when you only understand every fourth word.

Die Antwoord caused the internet to explode back in February when two videos they made, “Zef Side” and “Enter The Ninja,” spread like tuberculosis (over 4 million views & counting). The virus analogies can't stop there as everything about Die Antwoord is totally infectious, be it the music, the tattoos, the hair, the Zef style, or the Afrikaans slang. Given that Die Antwoord translates from Afrikaans to The Answer, it begs one to ask: what's the question? Probably something along the lines of, “Are these two for fokken real?”
