Description

Ten children are profiled in the book, including Canadian Ryan Hreljac, who founded an organisation that builds wells in Africa, and Sam Levin from the USA, who is helping connect kids with their food through an organic school vegetable garden. Also included are William Kamkwamba from Malawi, who built a windmill from bicycle parts and brought electricity to his village, and animal rights activists Fang Ming-he from China and Janine Licare from Costa Rica. All of them are examples of a new term becoming popular in the media today -- "greenagers" -- which reflects the trend towards young people being environmentally aware and ready to take action. Our Earth: How kids are saving the planet is printed on FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) Certified paper to match it's environmental message. The book concludes with a comprehensive list of actions and ideas for everyday kids to take care of the environment - giving children, their teachers, and their parents the tools to begin to make a difference in their own backyard.
