This newer version of Papillon was way more enjoyable than one of the older versions I saw of it on the big screen (the old version of it, in my opinion, was SO boring that I'm sure even prisoners watching it would consider it literal ‘torture’).
The 2018 version of Papillon, however, is so much better. This is especially true when it comes to the absolutely gorgeous man that is Charlie Hunnam (also known for being in Sons of Anarchy, Pacific Rim (2013), Queer as Folk (UK tv series). I thought the plot was pretty good and easy to follow, and there was some nice eye candy in some parts – for those Charlie Hunnam fans ;-)
I'd recommend it. You'd probably want to wait and buy the blu-ray DVD of it though, as watching it in 1080p really did make a difference. 720p (standard/normal DVD's) these days doesn't really cut the mustard. I mean it's ok… but in a world of 4k and 8k quality – I think 1080p (blu-ray quality) should be the new ‘standard’ in movie watching. Minimum.
