"Brilliantly hilarious"

Hands down one of my new favourite shows ever made! If you enjoyed The Office (UK or US versions) then you'll most likely love Parks and Recreation. Very, very funny but also full of heart. The series one dvd is essential for any fan of the show and even for people who are just fans of the documentary-style format, it's definitely worth adding to your collection – and if you're anything like me, you'll never get sick of it, it's one of those shows that if you want a giggle, it's perfect for watching again and again.

Parks and Recreation Season 1 is widely regarded as a poor start to an otherwise great show. By no means awful, the 5 episode season shows little potential in its current state (however the show undergoes a massive overhaul going forward). It is clear that many people behind The Office were trying to re-capture lightning in a bottle with the workplace mockumentary style, however with little substance to back it up. First time I watched this was 2016 and I thought it was so average that I planned to stop watching it. Thankfully the same day I saw a video titled “Top 10 Terrible Seasons to Amazing Shows” and whadayaknow, this was on there. I stuck with it and by the time I finished the show, it was easily one of my favorites. Revisiting the show today brought some unexpected enjoyment. Because I knew where the show would be going it was fascinating seeing where all the characters started and how different the show was back then. I even got a fair few honest chuckles out of it. On it's own, season 1 is an alright show, sitting somewhere between kinda good and mediocre. I judge it harshly because of the magnificent standards the rest of the show holds itself too. It is very tough to recommend to someone that they should watch Parks and Rec then immediately have to sit through this, but stick with it. It's short, it gets better and is more enjoyable watching it again and again after enjoying the full series. First time I watched season 1. 2 stars. Rewatching it later with friends having seen the complete show. 4 stars for potential and not being as boring as I remember.

Being a fan of The Office, I figured to give it a go. Thought it was hilarious! Although a bit of character development would of been nice, but I'm hoping season 2 takes it further.

Overall, a good tv season for the collection. Definitely worth giving it a go, if like me, your abit behind the times. :)
