It's hard to know how to characterise Pathfinder. It's predictable in overall plot, with occasional surprises in the details. It's boring, but with occasional compelling sequences. It's so violent that the violence quickly ceases having any real impact, and yet it also has touching moments galore. It has virtually no dialogue, and the characters who speak most are subtitled. The colours are harsh, but some of the set design is amazing.
In all, I ended up feeling surprisingly satisfied with the film, though pleased it was over. It's a lot like Braveheart, only shorter, not so preachy or bleak, doesn't have Mel Gibson (yay!), and takes fewer obvious liberties with history (plus the ones it does take are justified by this being a fantasy movie rather than an allegedly historical one). The two main characters are very watchable, though you'll once again wonder just how exactly Karl Urban picks his projects. :-)
An interesting, though incredibly violent film. I doubt you'll want to see it more than once.
Two worlds, one war, the ultimate battle begins. A viking boy is left behind after his clan battles a Native American Tribe. Raised within the tribe, he ultimately becomes their saviour in a fight against the Norsemen.
