Having been among the lucky ones at Pauls 1993 concert in Auckland I was apprehensive about watching the concert on DVD least it spoil my fond memories of that night. I need not have worried as the DVD captures the atmosphere and rocking good time that was had by all back then.
McCartney shows he could still entertain the masses whether you actually saw him live or via DVD. Good songs keep the young and old rocking as McCartney plays songs never done live before including Lady Madonna, Magical Mystery Tour, Drive my car and his signature tunes of Yesterday, Let it be and Hey Jude.
The only fault is the length of 85mins whereas his concert went for 2hrs 45 mins. Classics like Mull of Kintyre and Everynight are among the “victims”.
It was good to see Paul enjoying himself onstage with the everpresent Linda. Something that is noticably lacking in him these days.
