Too many game companies' feel they need to tinker around the edges, or flat-out completely change, the latest game in a series. And while it's necessary to up-date I don't see the point in changing successive games so much that the only thing they have in common is the series' name – I'm looking at you ‘Final Fantasy’. However, amidst all these ‘changes for change's sake’ it's a relief to see that the Persona series has remained true to its ideals. When we purchase a Persona we know exactly what we're getting; beautiful cell-shaded graphics, turn-based combat and of course The Velvet Room. In fact, Persona 5 has gone as far as to re-introduce a couple of original ideas, using ranged weapons and negotiating with enemies brings back fond memories. The busy life of a student is once again captured perfectly in Persona 5 – but this time we're not shooting ourselves in the head.
