Description

This study aims to provide a look at religious fundamentalism. Comparing two seemingly disparate movements - one in the US during the early-20th century, and the other in Iran during the 1960s and 1970 - the author examines the origins of these movements. He views them not simply as protests against "modernity", but as a community's social and moral mobilization against its own marginalization and threats to its way of life.
