Pitching Against Myself: It Is More Than a Game is two books in one. The first book is about Riley's illustrious baseball career and how he overcame significant odds, extraordinary challenges, and dreadful circumstances to go from being a benchwarmer to an All-American, and from being told that he should quit to pitching in the All-Star Game in the prestigious Northwoods League. It is also about his childhood and the house he grew up in that was plagued by addiction and oppression, and how he conquered extreme internal and external hardships to end generational curses and break free from the shackles that had been holding him and his family in bondage for too long.
The second book is the book Riley wishes existed when he was playing baseball; a book that teaches the physical and mental principles needed to succeed in every sport; a book that demonstrates how those principles also apply to every aspect of life; a book that challenges limiting beliefs and shows you how to change what you believe; a book that helps you realize your true identity and unwavering worth.
Author Biography:
Riley Tincher is an All-American pitcher turned coach, author, and speaker. Riley is a mental conditioning coach. He has a master's degree in sport pedagogy with a specialty in sport psychology from Baylor University. He leads a mentorship program called Coachability, where he's available to serve, coach, and mentor athletes at every level (youth to professional). He created Coachability to provide a safe haven for athletes to go to, so they can talk with someone who has been through what they're going through. He also created it to teach athletes the principles to be successful in sports, and most importantly, in life after sports. It's the mentorship program Riley wishes existed when he was younger. Riley is a truly gifted speaker, and he has been called to travel all over the country to spread the message of "You are more... " His authentic, passionate, emotional, and engaging speeches have impacted countless leaders, coaches, and teams in sports, business, education, and churches. Riley shares messages on a variety of topics including (but not limited to): identification, purpose, sport psychology, leadership, legacy, coaching, character development, culture, teamwork, preparation, and mental health. Every message he shares is customized to fit the needs of the audience. Up until recently, Riley was best known for his record-breaking, historic collegiate baseball career. He was an All-American, the Midwest Region Pitcher of the Year, the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Pitcher of the Year, a two-time first-team All-Region pitcher, a two-time first-team All-WIAC pitcher, a Max Sparger award recipient, and an All-Star in the prestigious Northwoods League. Riley also holds several school, conference, and region records. Among all the accolades and awards Riley has earned, he says that the greatest accomplishment of his career was being voted captain of his team by his teammates his senior year of college.
