I am an early childhood teacher and after years I can say that this is the only drum worth buying for a young child. It is extremely robust – there is simply nothing a child can do to it that will break it. It also gives quite a good sound, much better than the ones with a rubber membrane that make basically no sound at all. Expensive but well worth the money, especially if more than one child is going to be using it.
Plan Toy Solid Wood Drum is a favorite with preschoolers. The drumstick has a rubber head to soften the sound. Tapping the drum produces a pleasant melodic note.
Experiment and explore the different notes made by striking the drumhead in different places. It is one of Plan's most popular toys.
