"Story Driven Game"
5 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

Since I was bought up with Pokemon games and anime. This has got to be one of the best games out yet. Like most of the latest games, Black and White, Sun and moon.. this is story driven. The Wild Area is a brilliant addition to this game, new monsters to catch and evolve also. I do feel like the game was rushed in some parts. The whole saga about not having a national dex shouldn't put you off from this game. The Raid Battles can get a bit repetitive at the start of the game as the difficulty is too easy but once you get to the harder raids, they are entertaining. I would give this a 9/10 as it could be polished a bit better.

"It's ok... but not the best game in the Pokemon series."
3 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

I recently finished playing Pokemon Shield and it was an ok/fun experience. The graphics were a highlight, I enjoyed exploring the new cities and forest areas. And there are some really cool new pokemon. One of the main problems I have with this game was the story. It was pretty basic and safe compared to previous titles like Black and White and Sun and Moon. Overall, it was enjoyable but I feel like if you're not a hardcore Pokemon fan, maybe wait for this game to come on sale. Because I wished I hadn't paid full price.

"The online is terrible, if they fix it then 5*"
2 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

The main thing in this iteration of the games was raid battles, but the dev seems to think that not letting people refresh raid lobbies or even be able to see them is fine.

If the online gets fixed this game is 5* but until then it's a 2* single player experience

Description

The Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield games take place in the Galar region. Galar is an expansive region with diverse environments – an idyllic countryside, contemporary cities, thick forest, and craggy, snow-covered mountains. The people and the Pokémon who live there work together closely to develop the industries in the region. Fans will have the opportunity to visit various Gyms in the Galar region in their quest to become Champion. They will not be alone since the newly discovered Pokémon they choose to be their first partner will be by their side.

The adventure begins in Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield when players choose one of three new Pokémon – Grookey, Scorbunny, or Sobble. Grookey, a Grass-type Chimp Pokémon, is mischievous and full of boundless curiosity. Bursting with energy, Scorbunny, a Fire-type Rabbit Pokémon, is always running about. The stealthy Sobble, a Water-type Water Lizard Pokémon, shoots out attacks as it hides itself in water.

The Wild Area is a vast expanse of land in the Galar region with untamed wilderness. It is full of nature and connects several different towns and cities. Trainers will find a greater variety of Pokémon living in the Wild Area than anywhere else in the Galar region. The Pokémon encountered in the Wild Area will change depending on factors like weather or location, so Trainers might see something new each time they visit. While in the Wild Area, players can control the camera to explore the vast areas around them and search for Pokémon and items.
