It's all the little extras that make this new edition to the Pokemon franchise a great game. From the new camera angles during battle, Pokemon-amie and the new 3D looks. What would make this a 5-star game for me is if they didn't stop with Pikachu with the pokemon call upgrade but gave every pokemon a real voice that we all know from the tv series – how amazing would that be-!
A perfect match of training/battling and running around after Team Flare makes Pokemon Y so much better than its predecessor Black/White 2. The new Pokemon training regimen and other assorted games are a great addon too and are fun once you've got spare time or want to take a break from battling pokemon. The WonderTrade option is a great feature too! Gotta catch 'em all, or trade em all in some cases!
I am a huge a Pokemon since it's dawn, so I was pretty excited for this game. It did not disappoint. The graphics are fantastic as is the overworld. The design of the Pokemon are much better than Black and White and although there are only 69 new Pokemon, Mega Evolution makes up for it. It brings back classic Pokemon and giving them more spectacular designs. The new Fairy type also adds more to the game, giving even veteran players more to learn.
The gameplay is classic Pokemon and will be playable for all ages. The 3D effects are great too, it adds a little extra to the battles and select scenes and makes it more exciting.
All in all a must have game for Pokemon fans and 3DS owners.
Also thanks to MightyApe for the easy and quick fire purchase :)
Terrible rock paper scissors gameplay. Horrible story and writing the npc's are aggressively stupid. No voice acting terrible cut scene's. Poor performance and bad use of 3d. Game is also terrible at giving you information about the game with poor descriptions on everything.
I would forgive it as a children's game but in all honesty other children's game's play better and are written better.
Want to experience pokemon- This is a good place to start. Just don't expect a riveting story.
I've played Pokemon Games since Crystal, and loved every single generation despite there not being many ‘new’ things added. Pokemon Y bucks this trend by introducing a game-changing 3D world and pokemon (as well as heaps of new pokemon and a new type). It doesn't hurt that the world is beautiful; especially in 3D. Definitely a worthy purchase!
It's pretty good.
Everything you could dream of, for a 3d Pokemon RPG. Makes the previous titles seem pretty tame by comparison.
This game is great. 3D battles, and finally the gameplay is not tiny sprites in an overhead view.
There aren't many new pokemon, but all the upgrades and new features (and simply the long story) are excellent.
Pokemon X and Y need an SD card to play. Apparently new 3DS consoles come with an SD card but for those with a second hand console, there's no warning until you insert the game cartridge!
Really looking forward to playing, once I get an SD card!
Keeps him entertained. He's full of stories about the various details of all the featured pokemon.
I have to say, each generation of Pokemon has it's own charm, it's own unique signature. X and Y, however, are in a placing of their own. While the general bones of the game's progression remains the same, exploring a bit of the region's history (like in Black and White) coupled to present day events, as well as some darker elements, such as a super-weapon which is poised to kill us all, X and Y seem to have a bit more of a serious tone regarding Flare's motives. The feature of customising yourself as a trainer is a big, big step forward, because for the first time you can actually play as yourself, so to speak, and choose what outfits you want to wear.
The trainer customisation is a huge addition, and I can only hope they continue to utilise this feature in the future. The game is also very enjoyable.
Not the hardest of the series I have played but definitely a good buy on 3ds. I found its a tad easier to level Pokemon which may be due to younger players finding it difficult but alas this game has sustained my boredom for hours on end. And hey, who doesn't want to catch them all and be the best!
Lots of fun, plenty to learn and acheive. My first ever Pokemon game was well worth the purchase. Does not leave you lost wandering how to advance.
Best service ever ! a must have for any aspiring pokemon trainer:)
Probably the Best and most different Pokemon I have played. Has a lot of different content compared to the other Pokemon games.
Ordered one day and received the package the next. Game was in perfect order as was the console. I'd thoroughly recommending buying off mighty ape.
The latest addition to the franchise makes it a lot easier to own all 700 and something than it ever used to be. Story campaign is a bit shorter than previous games, but still good fun and a must-have for fans of the series.
This game has improved so much when looking back at the older Pokemon games. Graphics, animations, controls, almost anything you can think of has been upgraded to that next level.
As I child I was not lucky enough to ever own a Nintendo, so I never got to play. So this is my first ever Pokemon game (Im 21 years old and Im not ever sorry ahaha) But now I get what the hype is about, its addictive! I love this game! Highly recommend it for a Pokemon newcomer like myself!
I forgot all about MA's review system, so this is a bit late.
This game is a must have for any Pokemon fan, or even people new to the series. Ignore all those retarded genwunners. X&Y introduce a myriad of new battle modes, they've rolled over all the Pokemon sprites into completely animated 3D, and now you can even move DIAGONALLY. Oh guess what else, CHARACTER CUSTOMISATION. While it is limited, there is heaps of room for improvement in later games and it's a huge bonus for any and all gamers. The online/multiplayer aspects of the game have been improved exponentially, although I haven't had much of a chance to fully play through ever multiplayer option.
This game is a huge leap forward for the series, as is every new Nintendo handhelds flagship Pokemon game was . If you own a 3DS, get this game. Only letdown as a Pokemon fan was that they didn't introduce all that many new Pokemon this time around, but the quality was a bit better than the last generation so it's excusable.
One last thing, and I hope I don't get MA in trouble for this, but because of various address technicality related reasons I got my Pokemon Y a full day before the ‘official’ release day. Woo! Cheers Monkeys!
Such a great addition to the series. Still retains the original Pokemon-feel while adding in a brilliant new series of elements with the 3D battles and updated graphics. Oh, and you can move DIAGONALLY.
What more do you need- Pokemon Y, and Pokemon X, are both well worth the money and give you back countless hours of gameplay. Whether you're a complete newbie to Pokemon or an avid fan, these new games will hook you in from the get-go.
I have not watched or played pokemon for many years, since back in the Gameboy's golden time. This game has been an amazing return for me, I've found a whole bunch of both strange and awesome pokemon I've never heard of. But it still contains many of the originals that have been here since day one. This belongs in everyone's library.
The animation of this game is far beyond previous games and its amazing. The music is lovely and the 3D is just enough so it does not hurt your eyes yet allows you to enjoy it in all its glory. Remember that it requires 2 updates and the information about these updates can be found on the Nintendo website.
My son bought this game with his Christmas money and says the graphics are awesome.
I'm loving this game, I stopped playing pokemon a while back but this has drawn me back in. I love it =D
I love this game. Y is one of the best, although its hard to beat Red and Blue. I would recommend this game to anyone who is a fan of Pokemon and even those who are not. Its an amazing game with a good plot line. I suggest getting it
Been wanting this game for some time now and I was able to find it on this site
Such a good game. So many pokemon too choose from and lots of great concepts
Awesome game, I had been waiting so long for it and was very excited when it arrived a day early, thank you very much Mightyape.
Another classic title in the pokemon franchise, the creators at gamefreak and nintendo have produced a game that definitely deserves to be classed under the title of the “next generation” of gaming!
Could not put this game down from start to finish. The graphics are smooth, story is engaging and all together it is a refreshing change to prior versions. You will not be disappointed whether you've played them all or this is a first time experience.
Title says it all
Another great game. Its Pokemon so just buy it
Best ever!!
Absolutely wonderful, worth every penny
Its Pokemon they cant go wrong
